On Friday, I attended the Cardiff Labour Manifesto Launch for the 2017 City Council Elections. It was great to meet and catch up with all our fantastic local candidates, who are working hard to represent their communities.

Since 2012, a Labour run council has achieved a fantastic amount in Education, Housing, Development, Transport, and much more, including:

  • Cardiff being the third most improved council in Wales
  • Pupil outcomes are now above the Welsh average at every key stage
  • The number of young people Not in Employment, Education, or Training has halved
  • In 2015/2016 Cardiff Social Services were the most improved in Wales
  • The new city centre Transport Interchange is being designed by world leading architects
  • The £57m first phase of the Eastern Bay Link is now under construction
  • 98% of all reported fly tipping is being collected within 5 days

Cardiff Labour wants a city that works for you. Their manifesto promises:

  • Better paid jobs and a fairer local economy
  • Affordable housing and to tackle homelessness
  • An active travel city
  • Step up plans to give all young people the skills they need to succeed in life
  • Protection for libraries and parks
