Jenny Welcomes £7.5m funding boost for neo natal services

Jenny has welcomed the Welsh Labour Government's £7.5 million investment into Neonatal services at the Heath Hospital.

The multi million pound investment will completely modernise the Neonatal Unit at the University Hospital of Wales so that staff are able to provide the best care possible for babies and their families. The new unit will include special care, high dependency and intensive care cots as well as the current Neonatal Unit.

Jenny said:"The extra £7.5 million is very welcome. The Heath cares for the most sick, mainly premature babies in Wales. As a tier three neonatal unit, it is right that the service has the most up to date equipment and environment for nurses and doctors to work their miracles.

"This is not the sort of service that can be safely provided in all our district hospitals. Highly specialist care is needed to ensure the very best outcomes."
